A very popular reservoir in the Pardubice Region. The busiest times are holidays, weekends and warm weather.

Booking

Normal swimming does not require booking. Cabins and mobile homes can be booked online; tents and caravans at Autokemp Seč Pláž are not reserved.

Best time

June, early July, weekdays or mornings in high season. In the second half of summer, always check water quality because algae may appear at Seč.

Transport

Driving to a specific part of the reservoir is easiest, such as Autokemp Seč Pláž, Ústupky or Hoješín. In season, arrive earlier.

Watch out

Check current water quality before swimming. In 2025, a temporary swimming ban was issued at Seč due to cyanobacteria.

Time needed

For a quick swim, 1 to 2 hours are enough. With a pedal boat, paddleboard or Oheb trip, allow 3 to 6 hours. For camping, a weekend makes sense.

Accessibility

The easiest access is inside Autokemp Seč Pláž. Forest paths to Oheb, rocky shores and some areas around the reservoir may be harder for strollers and wheelchairs.

Autokemp Seč Pláž lists parking at CZK 80 at U Motelu and U Kapličky car parks, one-day car entry to the area at CZK 110 and pedal boat rental from CZK 250 per hour.

Seč combines swimming and landscape. You can swim, rent a pedal boat, paddleboard around the island, walk to Oheb or cycle through the Iron Mountains.

Swimming

The reservoir has several access points such as Seč Pláž, Hoješín, Ústupky and Semtín. For a first visit, Seč Pláž is the easiest because it has the most services.

Water quality

Water quality can worsen in summer. In 2025, a temporary swimming ban was issued due to cyanobacteria. Always check the current water-quality rating before swimming.

Trips

The island and Oheb castle ruins are the most memorable visual highlights. Oheb is a short but proper forest walk, so wear suitable shoes.

The most practical target for a first visit, swimming, vessel rental, sports facilities and basic services. Navigate to Seč 384 / Autokemp Seč Pláž.

Car: Ústupky, Hoješín and other parts

Seč Reservoir has several access points. Choose the exact part in advance depending on whether you want campsite facilities, a quieter shore or a hiking route.

On foot: Oheb castle ruins

A short walk to the ruins above the reservoir is one of the best add-ons to swimming. Wear sturdier shoes; the route goes through forest and uneven terrain.

Bike

The Iron Mountains are good for cycling trips, but expect rolling terrain, forest sections and climbs away from the water.

Public transport

Without a car, plan connections to Seč or nearby parts by exact target. With beach gear, children or camping equipment, driving is much easier.
