Vranov Reservoir: the Moravian Adriatic, Vranovská pláž and boats below Bítov
Practical Information
Vranov Reservoir is one of South Moravia’s best-known summer spots, with warm water, Vranovská pláž beach, campsites, boat transport, boat and pedal boat rentals, water sports, wooded shores and trips to Bítov or Vranov nad Dyjí Château.
Vranov Reservoir is often nicknamed the Moravian Adriatic, and on a hot summer day the name starts to make sense. Warm water, beaches, campsites, boats, wooded shores and the lively Vranovská pláž area create a real holiday atmosphere in South Moravia.
The reservoir lies on the Dyje River near Vranov nad Dyjí, close to Podyjí National Park, Bítov and Znojmo. It is not just one beach, but a whole recreation area with piers, campsites, rentals and trips.
Why visit
The main advantage is the combination of warm water and facilities. Vranov is considered one of the warmest reservoirs in Czechia, and swimming is often possible from early June.
The centre of swimming is Vranovská pláž, with gradual water entry, refreshments, restaurants, a toboggan, rentals and sports facilities.
Swimming and Vranovská pláž
Vranovská pláž is the most practical first point for swimming. It has a gradual entry into the water and strong visitor facilities, which makes it suitable for families. In peak summer, however, expect crowds.
Boats and water sports
Boat transport operates on the reservoir and makes it easy to combine swimming with a trip towards Bítov or other piers. Boat, pedal boat and water-sport rentals are part of the summer appeal.
Watch out for
Check current water quality before visiting. The beach is monitored by the regional hygiene authority, but natural bathing conditions can change.
Summary
Vranov Reservoir is one of South Moravia’s strongest summer classics: warm water, a lively beach, campsites, boats, trips and a real holiday mood.
